how to increase natural light in house (Infographic)

Many of us are currently spending most of our time at home due to the global pandemic but we must not forget that even if we are stuck indoors most of the time, exposure to natural light is very important. Check out this infographic from HappyCleans which shows you how you can allow more natural light into the home.

Natural light is of major importance for many reasons. It improves our health and wellbeing by improving our sleep, keeping depression and SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) at bay, and giving us our much-needed dose of Vitamin D. Using as much natural light as possible in the home instead of artificial light will also save you money on your electric bills!

A lack of exposure to natural light/sunlight can often make you feel sad and depressed so if you expose yourself to sunlight it can lift your mood as the light causes the brain to release more serotonin.

Due to the amount of time most of us are currently spending indoors, exposure to natural light is even more important than usual. Try and let as much light into your home as possible by keeping your blinds/curtains drawn throughout the day. Not everyone is lucky enough to have some outside space, but if you are, make sure you try and spend at least 10-15 minutes a day outside in the daylight. And if you don’t have any outside space, maybe you can spend a few minutes each day taking a short walk outside.
